The bong sao is a technique unique to Wing Chun. It involves the same solid structure common in all Wing Chun techniques, but with an "elbow up" position. To form the bong sao, imagine you've just inserted a key into a lock directly in front of you at the center of your body. If you're using your right hand, imagine turning the key counter-clockwise until the palm of your hand faces to your right. Your arm position can be higher or lower, but should have the orientation just described with a bend in your elbow like in the images above and below. Generally the hand that is not forming the bong sao should be in the center of your body (called wu sao or guarding hand in Wing Chun). The idea for what I call the crash in Hertao came from the bong sao.
In the images above you can see the bong sao being used to crash into the opponent's guard, jamming his arms. The bong sao is followed by a double lop sao (or two handed pull) with a knee. The bong sao can also be used against punching attacks.
