Push Kick - Teep
The "push kick" or "teep" from Thai boxing is a usefull, powerful kick. It's considered the jab of kicking, and is also often referred to as the "foot jab". Here it is:
The kick can be done either from a "fighting stance" when your opponent moves toward you, or with a real leg step up.
The knee is brought straight up, and then the kick is launched, driving forward with the hips.
The push kick can be used for many purposes, but is often used like a boxing jab...to disturb your opponent and set up combinations. Rather than rising upward and ending in a snapping motion, this kick derives power from driving the hips and body forward and using the supporting leg to push against the ground.
