The techniques below are by no means complete in scope by pure Brazilian Jiu Jitsu standards. However, in my view the following techniques are more than sufficient for self-defense. What seperates an advanced practitioner from a beginner in any martial art is the ability to execute basic techniques properly and at the right time. The following positions, escapes, and techniques cover the basics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
