A Difficult Knife Defense

Jab & Stab
All empty hand vs. knife defenses are problematic. The guy with the knife has a huge advantage. With that said, there is one unskilled attack, common in prisons, that is harder to deal with than the rest…the jab and stab, shove and stab, or sewing machine. In this attack the attacker uses his lead arm to shove you and keep you away from the knife wielding arm while he repeatedly stabs you.

Even if you manage to block the first stab the attacker just pulls back cutting your arm, or continues to stab you faster than you can block. So what do you do? Here’s a solution as good as any: The Jab & Stab Defense.

awesome post. this is a very difficult situation to deal with especially if your trying to get hold of the weapon hand.
the best solution is to forget trying to control the weapon hand throw some blows towards their head as they lean forward with it as in the pictures. try to knock them out. aim for the nose to disturb their vision. this kind of defensive behavior requires the ability to act before your opponent launches their attack.
If he does manage stab you (highly Probable), KEEP Fighting! In most cases people die from multiple stab wounds and not just one.
Not controlling the weapon is the surest way to get cut or killed. Anyone who trains even minimally with a knife knows how to evade and cut incoming limbs, so attempting to punch the attacker in the head without doing anything else is a very bad idea. The number one priority against a knife is getting control of it.
